<p>[31 December 2008] - The official age of a child specified under the Child Welfare Law will be revised from the current &quot;under 18&quot; to &quot;under 19&quot; from as early as the first half of next year. <br /><br />The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs announced on Tuesday that the revised Child Welfare Law was passed during a cabinet meeting. </p><p>Under the current law, 19-year-old high school students were excluded from welfare benefits. The revision included civil servants in charge of child and youth affairs and social workers working in organisations supporting families to those reporting child abuse cases to the police.
