The objective of this report is to seek what changes are needed to improve children’s rights rather than to criticize the national report.
It focuses on Korea’s implementation of the UNCRC. It deals with newly emerged child issues such as the rights of migrant children. Concerns over adoption are expressed because the Hague Convention is not ratified yet. It is also highlighted the withdrawal of two reservations. The issues continuously raised are also addressed; the definition of child is not unified in relevant laws; cooperation and coordination between governmental bodies remain ineffective. Updated statistics are included and recommendations are suggested to effectively deal with the issues.
