عمان، 12 مارس/آذار 2012 - نددت اليونيسف اليوم بقتل الأطفال والنساء الذين تم العثور على جثثهم في مدينة حمص السورية يوم الأحد.

ووفقاً لتقارير وسائل إعلام سورية ودولية، فقد كان هناك أطفال بين الضحايا الذين تم العثور عليهم في حي كرم الزيتون في حمص. وكانت بعض الجثث قد تعرضت للذبح. وظهرت على جثث أخرى آثار التعذيب.

وقالت المديرة الإقليمية لليونيسف ماريا كاليفيس: "من الصعب قبول وحشية بهذا النطاق، خاصة عندما تشمل أطفالاً يدفعون أكبر ثمن لأحداث ليس لهم سيطرة عليها. وإننا، وبشكل عاجل، ندعو جميع أطراف هذه الأزمة إلى أن يرقوا إلى مستوى مسؤوليتهم تجاه حماية الأطفال."
