[WASHINGTON, D.C., 5 March 2010] – The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will hold its 138th session from 15 – 26 March 2010 in Washington DC.
The Commission will hold hearings on issues of concern in the Americas on 19th, 22nd and 23rd of March. Find the full schedule of hearings here.
Child rights issues on the agenda include a hearing on the use of children in armed organisations and the recruitment of children in the Peruvian Armed Forces. The Commission will also discuss economic, social, and cultural rights in Haiti following the earthquake that shook the country in January.
Audio recordings of the hearings will be available on the Commission's website. Some of the sessions will be webcast live on the OAS website.
Anyone interested in attending the public hearings may do so, and no advance registration is required. Journalists do not need any special accreditation.
