Summary:
This submission outlines an example of the efforts of indigenous communities in Argentina to amend legislation in order to protect the rights of indigenous communities. In June 2003 a process of reform of the Provincial Constitution was carried out in Formosa, Argentina.

The main objective was to allow for the re-election of the positions of Governor and vice-governor. At the same time, the Formoseños indigenous community tried to take advantage of the reform process to present a citizen initiative to reform article 79, to improve the situation of indigenous communities.
