CRC Documentation Report of Non Governmental Organisations Mauritius
This report provides supplementary information on Mauritius’ 2nd periodic report on the implementation of the CRC. It focuses on undeclared and street children as well as victims of violence. It stresses the situation of inmates in shelters, correctional youth centres and rehabilitation centres. Reference is made to brutality in schools, child prostitution, drugs, pre-trial detention and the exclusion of disabled children from school. It analyses the legal situation in relation to the 8 clusters of articles and underlines where the State’s law, policy and practice do not comply with the CRC.
