SOUTH AFRICA: School violence in South Africa: Results of the 2012 national school violence study
The publication documents the extent and nature of violence, including corporal punishment and cyber-bullying, experienced by secondary school learners in South Africa. Based on a sample of 6299 learners and educators, the study follows-on from the 2008 national schools violence baseline study. The study shows that 22.2% of learners have experienced some form of inter-personal violence at school, while 20.9% have experienced cyber-bullying. the study also explores school violence in relation to experienced of violence in the home and community.
