Organisation aims and activities: Caritas Alexandria has years of experience in implementing and managing developmental programs. Caritas Egypt was established in 1967 as an “Emergency Aid-sector” providing Egyptian with essential needs. The government’s appreciation for Caritas active humanitarian contribution enabled it to be officially registered as a non-governmental organization at the Ministry of Social Affairs. Its status a

To combat poverty, exclusion, intolerance and discrimination. Caritas empowers people to participate fully in all matters affecting their lives and seeks to make them subjects of their own development and agents of change.
Caritas participates as an active implementing NGO in different dimensions of human development, where it works in close collaboration with different governmental and non-governmental bodies. Caritas Egypt implements a large number of developmental programmes.

Activities:
1) Health oriented developmental programmes including:
HIV/ AIDS Awareness and Prevention, especially among the most vulnerable groups. Counseling and guidance services.
2) Substance Abuse Intervention. Caritas provides free counseling and rehabilitation services to substance abusers with the assistance of a team specialised in medical, psychological, and social affairs
3) Leprosy control. Caritas provides medical, social and rehabilitation services.
4) Save blood supply initiatives. Caritas has created a manual covering the Basic Principles of blood safety in cooperation with National Blood Transfusion Center (NBTC), and conducting TOT for blood bank staff.
5) Community oriented developmental programs, including:
- Desertic community developmental projects. 
- Women empowerment projects. Caritas establishes women's clubs in rural areas teaching literacy and vocational skills.
- Micro-credit project. Providing small collateral free loans to disadvantaged entrepreneurs.
6) Developmental programmes for marginalised groups, including:
- Intervention programmes for street children. Caritas runs a drop-in centre and a transit shelter to help children through care and education.
7) Refugees. Caritas provides monthly sustenance, social support, and vocational training for refugees.
