The Juvenile Law Center is a non-
profit , public interest law firm, which
advances the rights of children
involved with public agencies by
working for the reform and co-
ordination of the child welfare,
juvenile justice, mental health and
public health care systems.
Primary areas of work: Strategic themes which implement JLCs mission statement Reducing unnecessary coercive intervention into the lives of children and families Promoting children's rights to permanent homes Promoting services for children in their own homes Reducing barriers to services through enhanced co-ordination Ensuring due process for children and families Creating a right to treatment for children in state care Ensuring children's access to quality health care Tactics to implement the strategic themes of JLC's mission statement Act as a resource to government, judiciary, families, children, child welfare, professionals, press and attorneys Litigate Represent individual children Advocate in legislative and executive branches of national and state governments Publish information manuals, training guidelines and newsletters Train and technically assist Build coalitions and serve on task forces and committees.
