Members and Partners
We’re pleased to support our partner, EveryChild in their upcoming efforts to address the links between HIV and residential care. We encourage BCN members to support this request for information on the links between HIV and residential care.
EveryChild and Maestral International have been commissioned by UNICEF to help improve the evidence base on the links between HIV and the institutionalisation of children. The first stage of this process is desk-based research. We are currently seeking information in the following 5 areas:
-
The extent of the institutionalization of children living with and affected by HIV;
-
The particular challenges faced by children living with HIV in residential care facilities;
-
The access and availability of forms of care other than residential care for children living with or affected by HIV (such as foster care or adoption);
-
Effective strategies to prevent a loss of parental care for children living with or affected by HIV;
-
Effective strategies to support the reintegration of previously separated children back into families and communities
Please forward on any relevant published or unpublished documentation, such as:
- Published journal articles and research reports
- Unpublished reports and grey literature (programme evaluations and case studies)
- National statistics and data
- Relevant national or regional policies or guidance documents (i.e., National Plans of Action for OVC, National Regulations for Residential Care, foster care, adoption or kinship care)
